Located in the picturesque port of Talloires, Émilie Bonaventure completes the restoration and interior designs of the rooms and suites at L’Auberge du Père Bise.
Founded in 1903, L’Auberge du Père Bise is surrounded by the sapphire blue waters of Lac d’Annecy in Talloires, France. Boasting impressive views of the lake and the Semnoz mountainscape, the destination has been luring visitors throughout its remarkable history. Purchased by chef Jean Sulpice back in 2017, the châteaux has undergone extensive renovation works, with its rooms and suites recently being completed by interior designer Émilie Bonaventure, recognised for projects such as The Epoca restaurant and bar, Paris and Frenchie in London's Covent Garden to name a few.
In this latest collaboration, Bonaventure redesigns the collection of lake view suites, creating an elegant and contemporary style that respects the history of the location, the personality of the client and the ethos of the brand. Antique furniture designs stand alongside their modern counterparts, creating a timeless essence that fits suitably with the evolution of the grounds. A soft and welcoming palette of hues takes its inspiration from the surrounding landscape, capturing colours from the impressive lakeside views, providing subtle connections to the outside world.
The interiors showcase an impressive array of textures, from the use of fabrics on the bedding and curtains to the prominent grains of the vintage side tables, decorative lighting and the woven gradient rugs. This layering of texture and material provides a sense of familiarity, creating a homely environment, quite often lost in hospitality design. The upholstered headboards extend out on either side, providing a central focus to the interior. Fixtures such as reading lights, power points and switches are integrated into the upholstery, creating clean lines and surfaces that emphasise the designer's layering and use of material.
The designs of the lake view suites mark the completion of the Relais & Châteaux hotel's renovation. Bonaventure's careful attention to detail and consideration of the destination's vibrant history creates luxurious spaces with an elegant and timeless style.
