FORM Hotel launches in Dubai, a landmark project for the Emirate conceived by internationally renowned Architecture-Studio.
The city of the desert, an international playground, capital of innovation or a luxury holiday destination; no matter how you describe Dubai, it is a place that challenges perceptions, embraces design and strives to evolve continually. This melting pot of culture takes inspiration from all corners of the globe and nowhere can it be seen more than in the Emirate's vast array of luxury hotels. Launching in 2018 within the neighbourhood of Al Jadaf and the Culture Village, FORM is the first member hotel of Design Hotels in the UAE and strives to offer something for the design-centric traveller with luxurious style and flair.
The internationally renowned 'Architecture-Studio' conceived the design of FORM. Set behind a striking white façade and adorned with unsymmetrical black windows, each of the hotel's 136 rooms has a timeless style, capturing the beauty of the selected materials used within it, creating custom-crafted spaces for the international traveller. The hotel takes on the new world and with it, the expectations of its travellers, opting for simplicity in design and decor over heavy opulence as is often seen with older hotels. This approach also extends to the services and facilities provided, focusing on clean, healthy eating, fitness and relaxation.
The hotel's in-house restaurant; the Roots Kitchen by Parlour sits adjacent to the lobby, divided by a contemporary style slatted screen. Crafted from walnut wood and featuring matt black bolt detail, the partition ensures that natural light can flood the entire ground floor while creating a destination for guests to enjoy delicious, healthy delicacies from morning to night. Upon entering the restaurant, guests are greeted by an impressive modern twelve-arm chandelier, suspended above a central circular seating booth with views out towards the terrace. Running the length of the window is a white marble 'breakfast' bar, lined with olive velvet upholstered dining chairs, the perfect area to enjoy a light meal or fruit juice. With a backdrop of walnut wood panels, the surrounding restaurant reverts its colour scheme, featuring light grey upholstery on the chairs and booth seating, paired with high-gloss black tables with elegant brass edging, a subtle detail seen throughout the decor scheme of the hotel.
FORM offers seven variations of room layout, from the 20-22 sq. m 'Cozy Single' to the 50 sq. m. 'Mega Room', each decorated in a beautiful Scandinavian style that exhibits the same appreciation for material and design detail as the communal areas of the hotel. The bed backs onto a large walnut wood panel, framed with matt black metal that allows furniture pieces such as the side tables and desk to attach, giving a minimalist cantilevered appearance that allows clean lines and surfaces to run throughout the interior. Small details such as the brass screws, draw grips and light bands add little pops of colour, effortlessly connecting the crisp white sheets and walls with the warmer wooden tones and matt black materials.
While maintaining the open-plan approach, the hotel room's vanity area uses an all-in-one storage unit to divide the space; used for clothing, essentials and safekeeping. The unit consists of a concealed safety deposit box and suitcase storage on the bottom with metal shelving and hanging space for clothing on the top. A wet room adjoins through a frosted double glass door to allow for privacy as well as a separate water closet.
The rooftop features a half-length Olympic swimming pool and a state-of-the-art gym with impressive city views over the developing Culture Village and neighbouring Marsa Al Khor. Tiled with blue and white mosaic tiles, the pool is the perfect place for fitness fanatics to swim a lap or for guests to take a relaxing dip while soaking up the Arabian sun. Surrounding the outdoor terrace are wooden sun loungers, deck chairs and lounge seating, all upholstered in soft natural fabrics. The rooftop destination also offers a poolside wellbeing retreat for food and drinks; by an in-house retailer offering locally sourced and thoughtfully curated items; and by such mindful add-ons as private yoga sessions, designer pyjamas, and bespoke art to ensure no two stays are the same.
FORM hotel goes far beyond the look and style of a contemporary hotel.
