Bagatelle Miami - Sam Baron

Bagatelle brings French Mediterranean cuisine and joie de vivre to South Beach, Miami

Bagatelle continues its international expansion, opening a new 200-seat restaurant in Miami, located in the city's iconic South Beach district, famed for its glamorous day scene, vibrant nightlife, and picture-postcard surroundings.

Situated within The Ritz-Carlton, one of the city's 800 historic Art Deco landmarks, the décor of the restaurant's interiors was the responsibility of French design and interior designer Sam Baron. Several elements helped inspire the restaurant's design, including the existing Art Deco interior architecture, local surroundings, and the brand's ethos.

An entrance full of lush foliage greets guests upon arrival, setting the scene for an unforgettable culinary experience. In the lobby and lounge area, intricate period panelling adorns the ceiling, its grid pattern inspiring the design of a custom-made rug imagined by Baron. This theme runs throughout, uniting elements of both the past and present.

A subtle colour palette of muted green and blue hues helps create a narration to the venue's design, which includes a conservatory, bar, main dining room and 16-seat private dining space. This colour palette is complemented by a range of beautiful materials, including natural woods, rattan, marble, and brass, all expertly curated to elevate the design and guest experience. There is also a nod to French design heritage in the curved forms and fine textile selection that includes beautiful French velvets and elegant linens.

Dramatic floor-to-ceiling curtains, statement brass chandeliers and sculptural light fixtures emphasize the high ceilings of the main dining room. Around the perimeter of the space, a series of alcoves were constructed, adorned in soft blue and green hues, featuring a vibrant collection of art including works by Pascal Lièvre, which introduce character and charm and provide intimate spaces for guests to relax and unwind.

As previously mentioned, nature and greenery play a vital role throughout the restaurant's décor, not only influencing the colour scheme and selection of materials but referencing Miami's tropical climate, vibrancy, and heritage - a lure and love for many that visit the city. This connection to nature continues into the conservatory, creating one of the venue's most talked about features; a vast, illuminated olive tree that branches out over a circular bar beneath evoking Mediterranean alfresco dining.
