The Kerry Hotel in Hong Kong has been designed and completed by renowned interior designer André Fu. Situated on the Kowloon waterfront, it is the first new-build project in the area to be constructed in over twenty years. Boasting 546 guest rooms and suites arranged over 16 floors, the hotel has been designed to utilise the incredible views of the waterfront in a contemporary luxury space for guests to relax and enjoy. Upon arrival, guests enter into an 8-meter-high lobby with large floor to ceiling windows that curve the facade of the building, inspired by the movement of water within the harbour. This theme continues throughout the entire design of the hotel, influencing materials choices, colour selection and fabric patterns. Laser-etched bronze screens can also be seen around the hotel, their mesmerising abstract shapes mirroring the ripples and patterns of the water located next to the building, creating a calming backdrop for guests and visitors to enjoy.
Amenities include an 82-foot-long outdoor infinity pool, seamlessly connecting with the harbour's waters, 24-hour fitness centre containing state of the art fitness technology, allowing guests to work out with an impressive view. There is also an outdoor jogging track and luxurious spa facilities with Jacuzzi, steam, bath and sauna, perfect for a pamper session and time to unwind.
Centred around art, the hotel displays over 1,000 works at any one time and even includes its own gallery and events spaces which include the city's largest pillar-less grand ballroom at 1,756 square feet and can house up to 2,100 guests. These additional facilities allow the Kerry Hotel to adapt and cater for a full range of requirements in a city that acts as a cultural and business hub attracting visitors for work and for pleasure.
Each of the hotel's guest rooms and suites has been designed to emphasise the incredible views and impressive location. Using a palette of calming blues and soft creams, the furniture and fabric of each space are highlighted by the use of eucalyptus timber and anodised bronze. Mirroring the sculptural bronze panels in the lobby and communal spaces, the designs of the rugs and carpeting feature the same curved ripple pattern that introduces an additional layer of luxurious comfort.
In total there are 546 guestrooms with 12 variations of rooms styles and packages, each with spectacular views of the harbour. They range in size from the 42-sqm Deluxe City View Room to the hotel’s stunning 294-sqm Presidential Suite on the 16th floor. Guests also benefit from state-of-the-art technology that includes e-concierge services and dedicated smartphone apps for use in the hotel’s outlets.
Containing several bars, restaurants and lounge areas, there is something for everyone to enjoy, morning, noon and night. The Big Bay Café is an all-day dining destination taking guests through a matrix of pavilions that serve unique handcrafted delights. Adorned with light stone columns and serving spaces set against dark wood furniture with tanned leather upholstery, the Café sets the stage for live preparation and the colourful delicacies created. Hung Tong and the Red Sugar bar is the crossroad where classic meets contemporary. The restaurant captures the area’s history in its design, contrasting modern and traditional décor amongst intimate exposed red brick spaces. Decorative ironwork dress the windows and the use of light wood within the flooring and furniture creates an inviting experience into a new world. Dockyard introduces a new concept in dining and entertainment. Set on the harbourfront, the restaurant and food hall mix industrial design with Asian finesse to create a truly unique space that houses quick-service Asian-style eateries and a fully serviced bar with live music from Hong Kong's best.
