Milan Design Week - Missoni X Alessandra Roveda: Home Sweet Home

Missoni collaborates with artist Alessandra Roveda to create the 'Home Sweet Home' installation during this year's Milan Design Week.

A brand that is not one to shy away from vibrant colours, and plenty of them. Missoni exhibited its Home Sweet Home' installation during this year's Milan Design Week; a collaboration with crochet artist Alessandra Roveda that transformed everyday objects and furniture into striking and vibrant crochet works of art. Set out into characterful room sets, visitors could walk the exterior of the installation and 'peer' into the playful world of the crochet home, discovering everything down to the television covered in multi-coloured wool.

Roveda graduated from the Industrial Design program at the Politecnico di Milano and her artistic inspiration and approach have roots in her childhood, inspired by her grandmother’s knitting process. The collaboration with Missoni is the perfect pairing with Roveda's design language matching that of Missoni's distinct visual aesthetic of using colourful and patterned fabrics, knits and layering.

The playful installation covers most areas of the home, featuring a front garden and entrance with bunnies, watering cans and cactus plants. The main living area houses a dining room, lounge space and kitchen with quirky details such as crochet sushi, wine bottles and even a relaxing couple on the sofa. At the back is the bedroom complete with its very own knitted artwork collection and rail of Missoni clothing. Finally, the back garden is a childhood dream with toys, telescope, rocking horse and bicycle.
