Milan Design Week 2019: Gucci Décor Collection

Gucci opens a pop-up 'apartment' to showcase its latest décor collection during Milan Design Week.

Fashion house Gucci wows the crowds during this year's Milan Design Week, opening a pop-up 'apartment' until the end of June, showcasing the latest additions to the brand’s homeware collection, produced by the Florentine company Richard Ginori, which was acquired by Gucci in 2013. Designs included furniture, upholstery and home accessories, everything from decorative throws and candles to service and tableware. Not one to shy away from striking statement pieces, the brand's maximalist approach has done everything to attract attention, the vibrant and metallic colouring, weighty patterns and extravagant layering being heavily publicised in the media and on social media platforms.

Set out across two floors, the apartment contains several style spaces, focusing on particular areas of the home. The ground floor exhibits home accessories and furniture pieces perfect for living spaces such as armchairs, side tables, decorative cushions and lighting. Stand out pieces include the 'Star Eye' collection; a series of porcelain accessories all featuring a striking eye design, emitting lightning bolts and stars as well as the 'Mystic Cat' designs, accessories featuring the popular cat design.

The upper floor houses the dining room style space which displays the brand's impressive collection of tableware. The Herbarium collection takes centre stage, crafted from white Richard Ginori porcelain which features Gucci's Herbarium motif. Laid out as an extravagant table setting complete with vintage candelabrums, silverware and macaroons, visitors get to sample the impressive style and settings that the full collection can offer.
