Dimorestudio: The Arts Club, Dubai
Take a tour of The Arts Club’s new sibling with the interiors designed by Milan-based design studio Dimorestudio, as the iconic member’s club opens their doors in Dubai, marking its first foreign expansion since its founding in 1863.
The Arts Club: the iconic London-based members club founded in 1863, opens its doors in Dubai, selecting the city as host for its second location. Moving into a contemporary Foster + Partners-designed glass skyscraper, ICD Brookfield Place in Dubai’s International Financial Centre, the exterior could not be more different to its older London sibling, but this, in a way, is what makes it so special. The 65,000 square feet club takes over four floors encompassing the renowned London brasserie, two new restaurants, a private dining room, extensive outdoor terraces and an array of members’ lounges, all designed by world renowned super design studio, dimorestudio.
Dimorestudio has created a perfect blend, staying true to the core values of the historic members club while giving the location its unique identity and connecting it with the city in which it is located. The studio infuses the interiors with its signature rich and sophisticated colour palette, bold textures and vibrant patterns. A luxurious vibe overtakes the ambience where each room displays a unique personality, all coming together through shared detailing, drawing from the architectural design of the building itself.
Recalling the club’s history, the design ensured a blend of influence from both past and present. While Art Deco remains the main inspiration behind the design, the spaces have been enriched with various other styles to create a nonlinear narrative. Inside the entry hall, the Art Deco-inspired woods and geometric shapes draw the eye while greeting guests. On the first floor, which houses the brasserie, a geometrically patterned marble floor sets the tone of the space. Wooden floors with off-scale fans characterise adjoining rooms.
On the second floor, the Latin restaurant features cathedral-like stained glass windows, complemented by panelling and custom-made wallpaper mural depicting tiles in coloured concrete. The third floor, with the Italian restaurant is characterised by floors made of three different marbles in a geometric hexagonal pattern, which is recaptured in a statement ceiling in backlit briar wood.
Each of the spaces also had to be designed with rotating and permanent collections of artworks in mind, staying true to the core of the Arts Club and its renowned reputation in the industry.
