Gunter & Co: The Nest - Glass Door / Tom Faulkner / Chelsea Design Quarter

Gunter & Co designed 'The Nest' installation at the Tom Faulkner showroom as part of Chelsea Design Quarter's Glass Door charity event.

Irene Gunter, founder and Director of Gunter & Co, and her talented team designed 'The Nest' installation at the Tom Faulkner showroom as part of Chelsea Design Quarter's charity event in aid of Glass Door. Inspired by the work the charity does for men and women affected by homelessness, Irene's design reflects the concept of what it means to feel at home, to feel safe and at ease.

The installation is intended to feel cosy and lived-in; it is an exploration of different textures and patterns within a dining and living room area, using materials and other elements that have been kindly donated by members of Chelsea Design Quarter and friends within the interiors industry. The space demonstrates that beautifully made furnishings aren't just for show homes and magazine shoots, but for real life, that these pieces are designed to be used for the whole family, with references to children's play, family meals and relaxing reading and research sessions.

Set against a sumptuous autumnal colour palette of soft greens and faded reds, stand-out pieces include Juliette Paull’s large canvas painting that provides an abstract window into the great outdoors. The Odd Flower echoes the soft touches of nature with its jaw-dropping floral centrepiece suspended above Tom Faulkner's iconic 'Exe' oval dining table. Providing comfort is George Smith's Portland sofa designed in collaboration with And Objects and Martin Brudnizki, dressed with Morris and Co's impeccable textile and cushion collection.

The full list of brands used in the creation of 'The Nest' includes Cadogan Contemporary, Lucia Fraser, Drummonds Bathrooms, The Rug Company, Fermoie, Dedar, Jennifer Manners, Morris & Co, Johnstons of Elgin, Tom Faulkner, Guinevere Antiques, Gunter & Co, Howe, George Smith, Deirdre Dyson Rugs, Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, Eggersmann Design and The Odd Flower. The event was hosted at the Tom Faulkner showroom on behalf of Chelsea Design Quarter in support of Glass Door Homeless Charity.
