Known for her soft and inviting colour palettes, sophistication and exceptional attention to detail, Surrey-based interior designer Sophie Paterson releases her first collection of embroidered bed linen and towels with iconic linen brand VIS-A-VIS at their London showroom on Motcomb Street. Launching alongside a capsule upholstery collection with The Sofa and Chair Company and a bespoke wallpaper design with Fromental, the bed linen designs feature intricate hand-embroidered butterflies gently fluttering as if caught in a moment of time.
The collection derives from Paterson's love of butterflies; the intricacies and detail of their wings and the graceful presence they have on their surroundings. The design focuses on the structure of the butterfly wing with close-up detail depicting the scales and shapes seen on the wing under the microscope. This precise level of detail is transferred and applied to the linens by hand. The results are embroidery at their finest. Just like the butterfly, the closer one gets to the finished design, the more beauty and detail revealed.
