Emmanuelle Moureaux: Slices of Time
Emmanuelle Moureaux launches the 'Slices of Time' installation at the NOW Gallery on Greenwich Peninsula.
Tokyo based, French architect and designer Emmanuelle Moureaux arrives on the London art scene, launching the 'Slices of Time' installation at the NOW Gallery on Greenwich Peninsula. The latest instalment of the globally renowned ‘100 colors’ series and the first presented in the UK, the installation composes of laser-cut coloured paper in a mesmerising gradient of hues. The installation invites visitors to contemplate and acknowledge the importance of time within a busy, volatile world, and the relationship between now, the past and future.
Suspended from the ceiling in a cylindrical form, guests can walk around the installation, witnessing the transformation of colour, decoding the dates that unite to form the works. The first-floor viewing gallery provides an alternative perspective, looking down on the colourful hues and the visitors exploring beneath, a moment to appreciate the scale and complexity of the work.
Throughout the exhibition, guests are invited to make a contribution that will allow the installation to continually evolve and add a personal touch. Provided with a circular piece of paper and a coloured pen, individuals are encouraged to share a date that is uniquely important to them and detail why. These special moments will take pride of place on the timeline in the gallery's window, creating a kaleidoscope of dates, memories and colours.
Slices of Time is already proving to be a huge hit, creating curiosity with passers-by and attracting visitors from all areas looking for a moment amongst Moureaux's fascinating and colourful works.
