Wimbledon 2016 with Christy

An unforgettable experience; visiting Wimbledon Centre Court to watch Andy Murray play in the championships with luxury bed linen brand Christy.
There is something incredibly British about Wimbledon, from the queues, picnics and dress to the passion, pride and excitement of the championships themselves. Attending Wimbledon is something that I have wanted to do for as long as I can remember but knowing the difficulty of securing tickets for Centre Court, I never thought it would be something I would be able to experience for myself. When I was contacted by Christy, the official towel suppliers of the Championships, to say I was excited would have been a complete understatement.
The whole experience has been one that I will never forget, from the excitement of receiving my invitation, an impressive astroturf covered box, full official Wimbledon merchandise and personal embroidered Men's towel with an invitation printed onto five tennis balls! (I mean, can that be beaten!?) to arriving at the gates and getting to meet so many incredible people. I cannot thank the team at Christy enough for such an unforgettable moment.
Whilst the highlight of the day had to be seeing Andy Murray play at Centre Court, the famed British weather played a huge part in the unpredictability and humour of the day. Cheers erupted as the heavens opened and the court covers were quickly pulled over to protect the grass. I was surprised as to how much difference the roof made to the court as it slowly closed, amplifying sound and changing its surroundings. It was great to experience the many faces and challenges of the Championships and discover just how quickly the teams adapt to pull through.
After the nail-biting match between Andy Murray and Liam Broady, it was time to enjoy another tradition, Champagne, strawberries and cream. This gave us a chance to discuss all things tennis and even learn a bit about the game from some of the experts in the group (Kate Baxter). As you can see from the images below, even the Champagne was tennis-themed with its very own Wimbledon polo shirt, for which I have kept to dress all my Champagne bottles in.
Whilst I am no tennis expert, the visit has given me a greater understanding of the game and a chance to experience the great atmosphere that everyone comments on. For those of you thinking to visit, I would definitely recommend it if you are able to get tickets. You can enter the park and watch the Centre Court games from the large screen on "Murray Mound" which has just as much drama to it, being surrounded by passionate tennis fans.
