Harrods Home: Summer Style
Posted on March 12 2015
Summer styling at Britain's most luxurious department store, Harrods. Including furniture designs from Tom Dixon, Vitra, Ligne Roset and Moooi.
When it comes to luxury and the pinnacle of designers for the home, there is only one place you have to look. Harrods is world renowned for housing the finest and most luxurious items that the world has to offer. When it comes to trends, it's brands do not follow them, they set them. I was lucky enough to discuss what trends and themes will be taking centre stage for the home this Summer and as usual, Harrods never fails to impress.
Brooklyn New Industrial
This Summer's trends are divided up into three themes, Brooklyn New Industrial, Restoration Chic and Tailored Scandi. Brooklyn New Industrial is described as "linear, geometric forms in a display of discreet decadence" This theme is all about clean detail that allows designs to stand out against a subtle and warm background. Limited colour selection is key to allow simple monochrome patterns, forms and details take main focus in simple yet sophisticated surroundings.
Described as "Playful details mixed with antique or retro pieces in a cosmopolitan homage to superior craftsmanship and elemental materials" This theme really exposes the beauty within materials and displays them within a beautiful industrial surrounding. There is an eclectic mix of rich colours, complimenting materials such as cast iron, worn leather and solid brass to create a powerful design, strong in character.
"Contemporary, clean and bright, a summery innocence that exudes from blond woods and classic oaks" Fresh and modern designs with classic references, set against a summery backdrop. Use of golds and yellows create a warm feeling of twilight, whilst the softer colours and patterns such as striped and floral pillows create a welcoming essence to the space. Items with strong character and design are paired with subtle and simple features to allow a mix of patterns and designs to work harmoniously within one space.
All the items featured are available directly from the Harrods homeware departments. Selected lines available to purchase online through the website www.harrods.com. Some items may have limited availability so it may be best to check directly with the store for further details.
