Guinevere: Three Kings of Colour Windows
Posted on June 17 2019
International designers Geoffroy Van Hulle, Sig Bergamin, and Phillip Thomas, have each taken over a window, dressing it with their chosen treasures from Guinevere.
For those that have walked down King's Road, one will immediately recognise the iconic Guinevere showroom. One of the largest on the street, the location has three large window displays, full to the brim of stunning antique pieces to lure guests into the shop's labyrinth of beautifully styled rooms.
Launching at this year's Chelsea Design Quarter Summer Street Party, Guinevere has teamed up with three internationally recognised designers; Geoffroy Van Hulle, Sig Bergamin, and Phillip Thomas, to transform each of the window displays with their own unique mark using Guinevere's captivating pieces.
Geoffroy Van Hulle
Belgian designer Van Hulle’s signature look is quietly grand, traditional yet colourfully glamorous. The style space captures a Moroccan elegance with our eyes immediately drawn to the rich red hue of the opulent hand-painted Pierre Frey wallpaper. Red is a theme that extends out onto the flooring, select accessories and the trim of the inviting sofa, adorned with a selection of contrasting cushion designs. Framing the impressive Lanvin Design Rock Crystal coffee table in the centre of the room is a beautiful striped blue and white rug, surrounded by an impressive selection of Guinevere pieces, from the Camel Form side table next to the sofa to the Chinese Blue and White porcelain table lamp to name a few.
Bergamin is Brazil’s most eminent designer, famous for creating vivid and eclectic spaces and the Guinevere window is a testament to his design style. The window proudly showcases an abundance of colour, layering, texture and pattern, an impressive eclectic style that sets the stage for all the treasures within. Each wall has been dressed in a unique floral fabric covering by D'ascoli called Raj Chintz while the ceiling exhibits the Madeline 'Eau De Nil' pattern and the floor Isabel's 'Casting' design. Stand-out pieces and personal favourites include the flower-like Italian Giltwood Mirror on the back wall and beautiful collection of colourful glass shell dishes on display within the French Capital Topped Shelves.
American interior designer Phillip Thomas specialises in large modernist apartments on the Upper East Side. Mixing the grandeur and contemporary style from his portfolio collection and marrying it with inspiration sourced from his extensive travels, Thomas has created an oasis adorned in vibrant patterns, elegantly framed into destinations within the style space. The Le Manach Plumette wallpaper by Pierre Frey adds an impressive texture to the interior while the Taraz Ikat stripes immediately attract the eye. Stand-out Guinevere pieces from Thomas' window display are the Italian Plaster Foot prominently displayed on the French Regence Style Macassar Bureau and the mesmerising Austro Hungarian Giltwood Mirror located on the right wall.
The Three Kings of Colour window displays will be on show at the Guinevere showroom 574-580 King's Road between 6th June - 19th July 2019 so do not forget to view the spaces before then.
