Guillaume Alan: Parisian Elegance
Posted on August 11 2015
The luxuriously elegant designs of a Parisian penthouse from Guillaume Alan. The soft tones and beautiful traditional finishes with a contemporary twist.
There is such grace to Guillaume Alan designs that every material and object has an individual personality, creating prominence and unparalleled luxury to a space. Growing up in the French world or architecture and design, there is an undoubtedly Parisian elegance to Alan's designs creating unique and breathtaking spaces that transform throughout the duration of the day.
Opening his first studio aged 24, Alan has gone from strength to strength and is now located with studios in Paris and London, working together with Emilie Le Corre. This unique relationship has developed through sharing the same vision, allowing them to work together harmoniously and develop such prestigious projects with fine detail and bespoke designs.
The space featured is a beautiful two-storey penthouse apartment located in Paris with a gorgeous 360-degree view of the city. Described as "a haven of peace, like a sanctuary at the heart of a vibrating city" The designs have been achieved by combining luxury, calm and precision, creating a romantic connection between furniture design and architecture.
I really love the design of this interior space, there is such a subtlety and softness to the tones used. The monochromatic colours allow the richness of the materials to be seen from the first glance. I particularly love the character of the marble fireplace, the deep black contrasts against the white veins of the stone, creating a breathtaking feature against the partially panelled walls.
The space is a result of simplifying traditional features and placing them into a contemporary setting. Whilst the designs are not overcrowded, the interior space has a warmth and homely feel, revealing the very best in bespoke furniture design such as the minimalist and artistic design of the sideboard displayed in the hallway above.
Other incredible features that I wanted to share are the gorgeous ironwork detailing up the stairs and the partial wall panelling that continues onto the doors throughout the property. These are the finer details that transform an interior into a luxury home.
With such an impressive portfolio under the Guillaume Alan belt already, I very much look forward to discovering what is next. It is incredibly inspiring to see a designer with such a deep understanding of materials and not only their connection within an interior space but the architecture of the building and location itself.
