Cox London Showroom Opening
Posted on July 14 2017
Cox London open their very first showroom in the heart of London's luxury design district, showcasing their impressive sculptural designs.
After an exciting tour of the Cox London Workshop and showroom in North London, I was thrilled to be invited to the opening of the brand's beautiful new showroom located on Ebury Street in Belgravia. Transfering their designs from the studio into the very heart of London's luxury design destination creates a brand new chapter for the brand, one that I cannot wait to watch unfold. Visiting the showroom on its opening day, It was time to discover old favourites as well as exciting new designs.
Positioned in the window was one of my all-time favourite designs; the Golden Oak Chandelier. Its impressive form and elegant gold finish immediately attract the eye, luring visitors over to inspect the incredible detailing of the individually crafted brass oak leaves. The grand scale of the chandelier in the window even stopped passers-by on the street, one taking a photo with his phone, giving us a live demonstration before our very eyes at the power of a Cox London design.
The Ivory Glass Leaf Mirror is another firm favourite and the first ever design I had come across from the brand, inspired by a trip to the Museo del Vetro showcasing pieces of antique Venetian glass-work. It was interesting to discover that the glass leaves that make up this design are actually created by artisans in Murano, sent over to London with each leaf being individually attached to a wooden cushion frame.
The visit to the showroom was also a fantastic opportunity to discover new designs and learn the inspiration and craft that goes into each one, including the Bronze Fragment Coffee Table with its large wrought iron panels and the incredibly comfortable Thibier Lounge Chair, an upholstered design with a gilded wrought iron base inspired by Modernist design. The lounge chair is one that I would love in my own home, having the opportunity to sit in it for quite some time, I can imagine it in a wonderful home, a place to sit back, relax and enjoy a good book.
The showroom is such a wonderful space, merging the boundaries between retail and residential to create a place that guests can immediately feel at home. I love the contrast in proportions between the studio and showroom, displaying the same or similar designs in entirely different ways. This allows Cox London to exhibit their creations and show visitors how that can be transformed with a simple change to their surroundings.
