Heal's AW15 Preview
Posted on August 11 2015
I recently attended the Heal’s press preview for their AW2015 collection and what a fantastic collection it is! With roughly 200 years of history, this season’s collection goes back to the roots of the business creating simple styles with personal details and finesse. There are three main collections titled “Pinner” (the gorgeous blue furniture photographed below) “Dodie” (The simple white art deco inspired designs) and “Fawn” (The beautifully finished, soft Scandinavian designs) With three very different styles, there is no doubt a collection and piece for everyone.
Pinner is a personal favourite of mine, I love the heritage feel of the design, particularly the rich blue shade that the furniture is available in. The colour is daring to most but works well against the simple shapes of the furniture and allows the attention to focus on the finer details such as the contrasting wooden tops and Heal’s branded handles.
Dodie has a retro glamour feel about it allowing the focus to remain of the shapes and lines of the design. Many of the pieces have been designed with adaptability at their heart allowing tables to extend, items to be stacked on one another and designs to be easily customised with finishes and accessories.
Fawn exploits the true beauty from its materials and uses them to its advantage. I was instantly drawn to how beautiful the joins are in these particular pieces of furniture, with their soft curved edges, you can see how beautifully two grains connect together. Another feature that I found fascinating was the use of a natural cable underneath the side and coffee tables to compliment the wood and create an artistic finish that can be seen through the glass of the coffee table. The use of soft materials and delicate finishes creates a stunning collection that can easily fit within a simple and light space.
