Ideal Home Show 2016
Posted on April 27 2016
The Ideal Home show opened on 18th March this year and ran through to packed crowds until 3rd April. This exciting exhibition was opened by celebrity ambassadors and favourites: George Clarke, Alan Titchmarsh, Katie Piper, Gregg Wallace, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Suzi Perry and Martin Lewis (below) Within minutes of opening, Olympia was flooded with people of all ages, visiting the show homes, discovering brands and finding inspiration.
A main draw to the show every year are the Ideal Show Homes, the centrepiece to the exhibition, actual houses that are constructed and decorated for the public to walk around. This year consisted of three very different show homes, The Time Saving Home: full of the latest gadgets to help us with the most time consuming tasks that we complete at home such as cooking, The Traditionally British Home: a perfect example of how to revive your home in a British style with a 21st century twist. Last but not least, The ARC by Green Unit: constructed from low impact building materials, an environmentally friendly home that can eventually earn you money!
This is an exhibition that caters for all areas of interest, more than just home decoration and improvement. Gardens, Food, technology, beauty and even fashion are hosted under one roof. With so many brands and so few hours in the day, if you are a true interior design enthusiast, it may take you more than one day to get around and discover everything that the exhibitors have to offer. Keep this in mind next time you visit the show.
One brand that I had plenty of time for was Smeg, exhibiting brand new products and designs such as the digital cooker hood and even a black board finish fridge freezer. (designs displayed above) The whole show is divided into sections which makes it very easy to focus on specific areas of interest. I was of course mainly occupied with interior design and home improvement but the garden and technology sections were also fantastic and inspiring attractions filled with incredible and innovative designs and improvements for the home.
With too many brands to mention in one article, if you would like to discover more news and highlights from the show or find out which brands exhibited this year, click HERE to visit the official Idea Home Show website. Information on the 2017 show will be provided in the near future.
