London Design Week 2017: Marc De Berny
Posted on March 17 2017
The first day of London Design Week at the Chelsea Design Centre was spent at the Marc De Berny showroom with inspirational designers Rachel Bates and Robert Marinelli.
As London Design Week comes to a close for another year, I wanted to share with you some of the highlights from my time at the Chelsea Design Centre London. During the week I was lucky enough to take part in design interviews, meet inspirational designers and generally learn so much more about design from some of the Design Centre's exciting and extremely luxurious brands. My first day was spent at the Marc De Berny showroom in Design Centre East, where I had the opportunity to speak with inspirational designers such as Rachel Bates, Robert Marinelli, Fabrice Bana and Phillip Corps to name a few.
During the two jam-packed interviews, guests had the opportunity to discover more about the designers, find out their inspirations and learn about each of their journeys through luxury design. After the informative discussion, it went out to the guests to ask questions about design trends, advice and collaborations.
What made this panel so special was the diversity and richness of design that each individual could bring to the discussion, covering everything from traditional home accessories, modern and contemporary furniture pieces and even floral design.
It was not only the interviews that had got people talking, the showroom was a character in itself, stopping people as they walked by with its strong contemporary design and eye-catching pieces. The space also contained items from the Rachel Bates collection, including the instantly recognisable opulent Champagne saucers in a range of vivid colours and floral displays from the very talented Phillip Corps.
After just one day of the London Design Festival, I was overflowing with information and overwhelmed by the incredible designs. With a party awaiting, it was time to see what else the Design Centre had in store.
