Charles Lethaby: Capella Pendant
Posted on October 17 2015
The Charles Lethaby Capella pendant lighting design recently displayed at 100% Design for the London Design Festival.
With thousands of designers exhibiting across the London Design Festival this year, the choice and collections of products to discover during the event is unbelievably huge. There is such a sense of excitement when you are halted in your tracks and drawn in by a gorgeous design that is like candy to your eyes. On my visit to 100% Design this year, that is exactly what happened.
The design in question to catch my eye was the Capella pendant light fitting. An abstract design consisting of twenty-four steel trumpets, each housing a small yet powerful LED light bulb. The use of metal and exposed joinery creates a beautiful industrial presence with a modern twist. The design can be produced in one, two and three layers, each layer consisting of eight trumpets each. These trumpets can also be produced in any arrangement of colours for an incredibly striking look.
Designed by Charles Lethaby, the Capella light fitting is becoming an increasingly popular lighting design choice, sure to become one of Lethaby’s iconic designs in the future. Graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2004, Lethaby is going from strength to strength in design and was most certainly the brand of people’s choice at 100% Design this year. Creating other incredible designs such as the Elara and Lorikeet pendants, I would strongly suggest taking a look at the Charles Lethaby website for further information and products by clicking HERE
