The Loom Collection - a series of four woven leather lighting designs by leather expert Bill Amberg.
The Loom Collection is the first lighting collection created by leather expert Bill Amberg. The range is comprised of woven leather lighting available in four elegant and adaptable configurations. The designs have been created with both residential and commercial interior spaces in mind and are handcrafted at the brand's London studio. The configurations include a single and a twin floor lamp, a table light and a wall light. The unique qualities of the leather and weave help create a beautiful play of light - the warm glow revealing texture and detail while casting shadows and patterns against surfaces nearby.
The range has been developed and perfected over the duration of several years, through a process of designing through making; as espoused by the legendary Japanese industrial designer, Sori Yanagi – one of Bill’s heroes.
Every fine detail this range has been carefully thought out and executed - a signature trait of the studio. Softly curved steel framework with an antique brass finish has been paired with spun base plates and lighting caps. A choice of fine hand-knotted woven leather cord or machine-woven leather sleeves complete the impressive pieces.
The hand-knotted woven leather cord is offered in a natural finish which will darken and patinate with time. Reminiscent of nautical knots, lengths of vegetable-tanned leather cord are hand-braided by our workshop team in north London. The alternate machine-woven leather sleeves are offered in two colourways and are specially made to order using traditional leather looms from northern Italy.
Renowned for their bespoke leather products, interiors and furniture, it is wonderful to see the brand move into lighting design and witness the incredible response that the collection has received.
